A Home Visit

Just before Christmas I visited a private collector who has spent many years assembling a wonderful collection of Wisconsin furniture, mostly from the southwest part of the state. We spent a very enjoyable afternoon looking at and talking about furniture and collecting.

Along with the furniture, I also got to see a couple of great examples of needlework by Wisconsin women, including this elaborate crazy quilt made by “Miss Linquist”–a milliner in the town of Rio (for you non-natives, that’s pronounced “Rye-oh”).

Her shop sign has been salvaged along with a few examples of her work.
